The MRL Fellowship Program for Academic Diversity has been created in order to further increase the impact and relevance of the facility.

A limited number of fellowships in this area are open to anyone. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose record of scholarship and service contributes to the diversity of the academic community. MRL is particularly interested in applicants whose family members may have experienced barriers to a participation in higher education, who are bilingual or bicultural or who have participated in teaching, mentoring or outreach programs that assist minorities.

The fellowships is worth $4,000 per year (renewal by competition) which can be used to supplement salary or travel.

For the fiscal year (2005-2006) the deadline was March 3 for the submission of applications. All that is required is the name of the student and a short sentence describing why the student is a candidate for this program. An internal committee will evaluate all of the applications and results will be announced in the middle of March with money immediately available.
