Build a Buckyball Workshop

Students, ranging from elementary to early high school, are given a brief introduction focused on Materials science and the scale of the nanometer, different forms of carbon and the relationship between molecular structure and material properties. Afterward, each student builds their own six-inch carbon-60 molecule.

Build a Solar Car Workshop

Students are introduced to current energy usage, alternative energy and UCSB research in photovoltaics.  Students have the opportunity to build their own small solar car and race them. The workshop is suitable for upper elementary to high school students.
