2025-2026 Programs:

Tokyo Tech Summer Program (PAUSED FOR SUMMER 2026)
UCSB science and engineering students are eligible to attend a 10-week summer intern program at Tokyo Institute of Technology.  Travel and living expenses are paid by the UCSB CISEI internship program.

Future Leaders in Advanced Materials (FLAM)
The MRL hosts students from UCSB and other colleges and universities around the country to pursue research projects under the supervision of MRL faculty and researchers. Summer internships are available.

Research Interns in Science and Engineering (RISE)
Students from UCSB pursue research projects under the supervision of UCSB faculty and researchers. School-year and Summer internships are available.  

California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP)
Students from UCSB pursue research projects under the supervision of UCSB faculty and researchers. School-year and Summer internships are available.  

Cooperative International Science and Engineering Internships (CISEI)
The MRL sends US undergraduate science and engineering students to 10-week summer internships at our international partner institutions. Students from our international partner institutions complete research internships at UCSB; international students should apply through their home university.

Partnership for Research and Education in Materials (PREM)
Students from Jackson State University participate in mentored research internships at UCSB and UCSB science and engineering students pursue mentored research internships at the University of Texas at El Paso through this NSF-funded partnership.
