Summer Takeaways

Engaging in hands-on science at UCSB is a powerful way to enhance your skills in scientific practice and communication. Our RET teachers present their research projects to peers and research group members, showcasing unique lab experiences. Each teacher is treated as a contributing scientist, tackling real and current scientific problems. These experiences and the classroom exercises they design will engage their students' interest in the natural world. Interested in joining our community? Contact us, visit during our workshop, or apply to our RET summer program!                                                                 - Frank Kinnaman, Dotti Pak, MRL Outreach

MRL Outreach: The MRL was recently awarded a grant which will continue support of our education programs, which provide undergraduate research opportunities, graduate student training, and community outreach, including to k-12 students and teachers. (More information)

In the 2023-2024 school year MRL graduate students were able to visit and host various junior high and high school classrooms.  We continue to offer materials science demonstrations and inquiry by graduate students, along with insights into research.
