Build a Solar Car Workshop

The Build a Solar Car workshop introduces students to alternative forms of energy, concentrating particularly on solar driven energy.  After a brief presentation about our current energy usage and alternative energy, each student has the opportunity to build a solar car – a small handheld car that uses solar energy to move.  Students will then race their cars outside to explore how solar energy can be converted to do work. 

The workshop takes approximately one hour to complete but is flexible enough to adapt to different environments including school year classrooms and visiting groups to UCSB.
